Where Boxing Meets Life

I walked into a gritty garage boxing gym in North Carolina over a decade ago, looking for a workout. What I found instead was a mirror.

Nearly 50 amateur fights later—including four Chicago Golden Gloves championships and countless rounds in national tournaments—I’ve learned that the ring is the ultimate classroom. I’ve experienced the highs of the hand-raise and the crushing weight of a loss; I’ve dealt with the sting of sexism in a male-dominated sport, the physical toll of injuries, and the mental grit required to keep showing up when the "missing opponent" is actually your own self-doubt.

Through Conversations from the Ring, I’m taking the lessons I’ve learned between the ropes and applying them to the world outside of them.

What This Is About
This isn't just a newsletter about how to throw a better left hook (though we might talk about that, too). This is a space where we explore the intersection of high-intensity athletics and everyday resilience.

Boxing is a holistic sport. It demands more than just physical strength; it requires strategy, emotional regulation, and an unbreakable spirit. Whether I’m training athletes at Unanimous Boxing Gym or leading therapeutic sessions for those living with neurological conditions, my philosophy remains the same: The discipline you build in the gym is the same discipline that helps you navigate your career, your relationships, and your personal growth.

What you’ll find here:

  • Mental Stamina: How to keep your head when life throws a haymaker.
  • Grit & Discipline: Moving past motivation to find the habits that actually sustain you.
  • Personal Stories: Reflections from my 12-year journey in the amateur circuit and my life as a coach in Chicago.
  • Empowerment: Tools to help you claim your space, find your voice, and fight for the life you want.

In the ring, you can’t hide. You have to be present, you have to be honest, and you have to be willing to grow. That is exactly what we’re doing here.

Welcome to the fight.
